U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley (Oregon) honored Nch'i Wana Housing (NWH) at his recent town hall in The Dalles, Oregon. He presented the organization with an American flag that flew at the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington D.C. Senator Merkley highlighted the work Debra Whitefoot, NWH's Executive Director, has done in establishing Nch'i Wana Housing 5 years ago and working to help secure housing for Native American families in the Columbia River Gorge. Debra gave a wonderful speech emphasizing the need for affordable housing for the Native community along the River.
NWH Board Members Paul Lumley, Karen Whitford, Fred Whitford, and Bernadette Grace were all present to witness this honor. NWH Staff and family were in attendance as well.

I loved and appreciated the Buddy haters that year
I love Debbie Whitefoot and her team for all her hard work preparing us for the winter and taking care of us during the winter, the love for the Columbia River people. Much appreciated
But the haters burned out after 5 months
And I know they're not meant to be anne hours, but it's freaking cold genuine too thank you Debbie. Thank you everyone for all your hard work
